Happy Meals Under Attack

Reading Journal #6, Page #13, April 6, 2011, Title: Phil Vasquez Happy Meals Under Attack ............. Summary: Some New York City council members announced a plan Tuesday to ban toys in fast-food meals for kids, aping a similar San Francisco Law. City Council Deputy Majority Leader Leroy Comrie said banning toy giveaways would lower the draw of ast food or kids and encourgae the restaurants to offer healthier food. While I recognize that ensuring children have access to -and eat more-nutritious meals is ultimately the responsibility of their caretakers, the City Council can empower parents by making it harder for the fast food industry to target children with predatory marketing techniques. Opinion: ........... Junk food is bad for children so it is up to the parents to make sure their kids don't eat it. Children don't usually know what is good for them so the parents should be responsible in saving their children.

Title of article: Stressed teens taking more drugs, study says

Summary: According to a news report issued Wednesday. More American teenagers are using drugs, they're turning to drugs and alcohol to handle stress. between 2008 and 2010 teens who said "they had used pot in the past year rose to 39 percent from 32 percent, and teenagers who said " they used ecstasy in the past year increased to 10 percent from 6 percent". it's findings on a survey of about that 2,500 high school students, found that 45 percent said they do not see a great risk in heavy daily drinking while 31 percent strongly disapprove of fellow teenagers getting drunk.

My oppinion: More and more day parents are too busy with their work, so they don't have much time to pay attention and listen their children. Parents allow their children to decide and to do somthing they want. the fact children aren't always have a lucid decision in their lives so that teens and teenagers were depraved such as using drugs and alcohol.

title: Cubs place Cashner and Wells on DL.
date: April. 06. 2011
author:

summary:

Cashner has been placed on the disabled list, along with Randy Wells, after his first major league start and could miss a month or more of the season. The Cubs say there are "no surgery possibilities" with either one. Wood and Prior, both highly touted top picks, suffered elbow and shoulder problems and surgeries that limited their careers. Cashner allowed only one run in his starting debut Tuesday before leaving after 5 1/3 innings against the Diamondbacks. Cashner and Wells will not pick up a ball for a week to 10 days, then will be re-evaluated. They will need simulated games or minor league rehab starts before they return. The Cubs know they won't get any sympathy around the league.

"We'll find a way to get through it," general manager Jim Hendry said. "Nobody's going to feel sorry for you."

my opinion:
I think this could happened to any player. It is too sad because their careers are at stake, but at least they can rehab and come back to play again.

Title of the article: Southwest grounds planes after emergency

A summary of the article: On last Friday, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 airplane made an emergency landing in Arizona. During this ariplane flight, a hole was five feet long and one feet wide opened on top of the aircraft. After this accident, the Southwest mechanics cut a 9-foot section from the plane, it could be shipped to the NTSB lab in Washington for stude. Meanwhile, 79 ground planes of Southwest were gotten inspection for 'aircraft sin fatigue', but none of the finding were available.

My opinion: Southwest Airline is one of the biggest airline company in the U.S. However, this accident would brought a serious bad effect for the other airline company. Fortunately, it didn't become a plane crash. I think, since then, each routine inspection will be more overall.

title: Friday is Walk to Work Day
summary: On this Friday a event 'walk to work' was  championed by a Chicagoland biking advocacy group. This Friday these people all walk to work, not for Fool's Day, but just want to walking on foot. This event has no problems for some areas, but is not easy for some areas.
my opinion: We are walking everday, if the CTA could not work then I will prefer to walk or ride to work, if not, I will choose CTA.
