* A summary of the article:
Monday 17thc was "blue monday", the supposed saddest day of the year with the holidays past. Luckily, January is also National Soup Month, so no better way to cheer up than with a hearty soup - with booze on the side, of course. Soup is hard BYOB pairing to tangle with. Ukrainian Village has no shortage of BYO reastauants, but few pay tribute to the neighbourhood's heritage such as Shokolad - primary a cafe and pastry place. Shokolad's small order of boshcht ($ 3) is full of beets and garlic with a beefy broth base. Consider this guideline: If the soups are beefy, the beer should be, too.

Soups with an aromatic broth base such as standart pho tai ($6.5), the beef-and-noodle dish emblematic of Vietnamese cuisine served at Uptown's Pro 888 are another story. Pho features both are full of almost dastracting aromatics: clove, allspice, garlic and fish sauce.

* My opinion:

I picked this article because I'm working at one of those places and I know what does it mean when customers want to have nice lunch or dinner with some good wine from their own bar or from the store. They don't have to worry about spending a lot of money for some good drink with the restaurant's prices.

Summary: There are thousands of red-winged blackbirds died in Arkansas. The incident was caused by "blunt force trauma" according to a new report. The tests ruled out bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, pesticides and avicides as causes of death was said in a statement. At last the tests revealed hemorrhaging "consistent with blunt trauma".

My opinion: Actully I don't think the incident caused by "blunt force trauma". Not only birds, but also fishes and other animals. In my opinion, they were died by bad environment, pollution and globle warming. We should pay attention to our green world.

*A summary of the article: The ballot roller coaster for Rahm Emanuel finally stopped Thursday with the former White House chief of staff very much in the race for mayor and the Illinois Supreme Court emphatically rejecting a contentious challenge to his Chicago residency. City law says mayoral candidates must reside in Chicago for at least one year prior to the election and Emanuel didn't return until September.

*Reflection about the article : How could Rahm Emanuel win in supreme court? When I read this paper. Rahm Emanuel was executive secretary working in White House. I could not accept ruling because he broke violation of election law for If a city candidate want to elect who must live one years in one city. Rahm Emanuel not live in Chicago so far. However, many people support him. If Rahm Emanuel will become a member of a city council. I hope, He will do his best for residency!

A man was shot to death as he tried to help a woman being robbed of her purse on the West Side on Monday evening,police say. The victim name is Bobby Butler who was shot in the abdomen before 6 p.m. Bobby was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m.

Bobby Butler had come to aid of a 26 year old woman who was being robbed at gunpoint. A man about 25-30 years old who threatened her with a gun.Bobby saw what was going on, came up to the robber, try to stop him, but robber shot him, and then ran away.woman was unharmed, police said.

In my opinion

Bobby should not help her. He could call police. It was just purse and some money. why did he ruin his life for helping someone, tip for death? It is so sad. Maybe a robber didn't know what he was doing. the robber thought he may get out of this criminal. But his choice was totally wrong. So please be carefull when you do something like this! thank you

A men got drunk after party animal. He was peeing into the trees beside bus stop. He seem unteadily took a seat and a bottle of vodka still in his pocket. some reason, they are parting and that guy that she was at bus stop to show "publicly displaying his chemical dependency". if they thought that party with " drink" or it is dancing all night to bad pop songs, not engaging in tow-day that results in jail time, It is more truthfull. Only party in short times. "it never like that all year round" let's not use the word " party" interchaneably with "abuse alcohol and/or drugs" anymore.
* My opinion:
I agree with author of the article. we shouldn't abuse alcohol for party so much. After a long party, we often see or heard bad news because people can't control by exhausted body. when anyone use word" party" so people think to drink. If we don't know how to limit for parties that results don't expect for us.

There are some people have had their profiels deleted from the facebook, because they have the same name as a soon-to-be princess Kate Middleton. They don't know why they just typed their name, but the company deleted their accounts. So many people have taken action to tell the company of facebook, of course the company promise that they will resolve this problem as soon as they can.

Opinion of the article:
Everyone has their own rights, and everyone is equal no matter who you are, who is your relative. Nobody has right to let you don't use your name just because you have the same name with a famous people. In my opinion , the company of facebook should solve this mistake quickly.

At 4: 30 p.m on 24th, the airport in Moscow had the bombing a terrorist attack. 35 people were been died and 152 people had been wounded in this bombing. The Russian authorities said this bombing was a suicide bombing who stuffed to be bobies and luggage of a homemade bomb. Then activated it in a crowed area, the international arrivals section of Domodedove Airport.
*My opinion:
I am very sympathetic to hear this bad news. Similar to this terrorist event was often happened in arround of innocent people's. Not only take the pain to victims' family but increasing the loss of government funding as well.

Prof pleads guilty to false stabbing story is reported by Chicago Tribune. This article was published on January 25, 2011 on page 10. This article was about a professor lied to the Chicago police. Professor Hunninghake told police that he was robbed, and he was injured by that. However, he did not tell the truth to the police. Finally, professor Hunninghake was put in probation for his wrong behavior. Even though I did not get any information about professor Hunninghake's reason to lie in this article, I think this behavior will harm the safe of our society. Also, his behavior will waste time and money of Chicago police.

5. A summary of the article

Governor Quinn will sign a law that allows civil unions in Illinois for same-sex couples. He will sign the law next Monday in Chicago. Same-sex couples will have many of the same rights as married couples. For example, they can share a nursing room home, share insurance, or make end-of-life decisions for each other.

6. Your opinion about the article

I agree with this law and think it is good. This law can help same-sex couples to become more equal. I think all people should have the same rights.

In this class, I expect to learn more writting and reading skill. I know I have to work hard. I will take my time to do more practic. I hope I will achieve my goal.

if I can pass class level 5 i will register to another clasess . I expect to read and write in English fast. Being fast reader is important for me because I have got a lot of to learn. In order accomplish it I have got four months. I have read and write more in English. I have to study grammar of English . I think of more practices to get better Engilish.

I expect to improove my speeking and reeding skills from level 5. I want to explane my thoughts and express myself as well as I do that in my native language. I'd like to increase my vocabulary knowlege and going to follow and do every task during study and do homework for that.

My hope in the English class

I should work hard in this class, because there have some important points that we need to know, there including the grammar rules, how to write and new vocabulary. I want to learn some words and control these easily in the paragraph, this is my goal for the writing class. In the reading class, I hope the reading ability will raise, when I read some of stuff, these won't be difficult for me. Of course, the grammar is very important in the writing and reading. I usually make some mistakes of grammar, when I speak with people or write letters. So I must remember the every rule and often use these in the life. I believe if I do these points, my English level will be improve much more and go to next level successfully!

I really want it

In this semester I really want to learn more: how to write without any grammar mistakes, I would love to read the book and enjoy it, without looking to the vocabulary. Last semester I promised to myself that when I'll come back to school I'll do everything to make my knowledges better. So, good luck to me :)

Hi my name is kim(kyounghyun kim).

I'm really want to learn about writing skill and reading skill in this class.

actually, I don't have good writing skill. So I always wondering about it.

Through this class, I want to get a good writing skill and reading skill.

I want to learn more Grammar and how to write a good essay skills. Now, I just know less vocabulary, so I need to learn hard. I want to pass this level all classes too.

the most difficult semester!!

Last semester I almost could not pass the LV4 because I wrote a very bad essay for the exit

exam. So this semester I want to improve my writing and reading skills. I am going to read more

books to help me know more vocabularies, and to do more exercises to help me write better essay.

What I expect for this semester?

For this curse, I expect to improve my English writting skills and I want to learn more vocabulary.
